Helene Bruderlein says:

...the way you work on pages of an old book. It gives a depth, a space where the ancient and actual worlds get in contact, speak one to the other.

zen says:

How wonderfully meaningful! My meaning, your meaning, meaning we don't fully understand - it all seems here. I particularly like the layering effect (the way meaning is layered) of the papers on top of papers.

Queer on Paper says:

...pages from old books. Using these pages is a sensual and intimate thing. These things were used by a number of people and sat in houses filled with love, hate, anger, who knows. These are like scraps of a life lived long ago. It is amazing how pages from old texts can be infinite shades of brown or tan.

bootsartemis says:

I sometimes prefer to view the picture without the background words. When they're there I have a hard time resisting them because they're always interesting, but there's a plus in coming straight to the image without words or preconceptions. Especially this one--morning prayers imply silence and peace. The simplicity here is moving. A Mozartian simplicity.

The presence of words in and with visual art affects its nature and when there are words, as here--pages--IN the art, then it's nice to view the work without additional words (at least for a while).

The plain broad lovely border of this work is seen by me as quiet and silence.

MB: Yes, I think there is a quieter sense to this series... it's one of my very latest works and I guess there's more of a serenity in them... almost like meditations or prayers....

it helps me to understand my work, seeing others comments. Yes, there is a great simplicity in this whole series, a kind of "moment for silence and reflections"... thanks for bringing that out... Yes, I like what you're saying about leaving the viewer (and read) to find his own way around the work.... this is precisely what I had hoped... I guess the works are about making connections and combinations and interpretations for one self... a personal journey that will touch everyone individually and differently... without too much explanations on my part.... it's really a very intuitive work and I'd like to leave it open in that way...
